The Nike Zapatillas Mujer is constructed from black suede panelling, which contrasts with bright red sections, a light blue trim and a golden tongue. Arguably the stand-out detail is the gold embroidered Chollima character on the heel, a reference to a prominent winged horse taken from Chinese mythology. Elsewhere, the sneaker features Chinese characters on the tongue, a firework display-inspired footbed and a brightly colored outsole.
The Nike Zapatillas Running EVA foam midsole and visible heel Air Max unit keep things relatively simple with a combination of black on the former and volt green on the latter. The outsole sneaks in one final detail, however, adding a Chinese character stamp under its icy blue and white folds. When translated, this roughly states “Nike Official Kiln,” a cheeky, simultaneous nod to the dishes’ hand-fired nature and the status symbol provided by the stamp present on the bottom of porcelain items.
From the Nike Zapatillas Negras mudguards to the quarter panels and heel, every component offers a different pattern, but all are connected by a common thread — every pattern is one traditionally found on the delicate dishes. Ranging from the Double Happiness Bowl to the Mi Tong Bowl, the positive motifs represent everything from family reunions to healthy children and overall happiness. The bright colors used are a direct nod to the Chinese New Year, which is also known as the “Spring Festival.” Last but not least, a “Longevity” motif is sprinkled throughout.
The Nike Air Max 1 "Daisy" Grises/Azul/Amarillas also comes with a multi-textural upper, featuring elements of smooth and rugged suede, corduroy and leather. The brighter color palette sees the Air Max 1 decked out in “Red/Khaki/Peach” in honor of the red bring buildings and winding canals of the city. The canals are also celebrated in a similar heel embroidery to the London sneaker, while the “XXX” taken from Amsterdam’s coat of arms features towards the toe box.
