MIKE & MIKES KICKING OFF THE SEASON BY CELEBRATING THE SEASON DAY 2 SWEEPSTAKESOFFICIAL RULESNO PURCHASE NECESSARY. PURCHASES DO NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. ODDS DEPEND ON NUMBER OF ENTRIES RECEIVED. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.1. PROMOTION AND SPONSOR: Participation in the Mike & Mikes Kicking Off the Season by Celebrating the Season Day 2 Sweepstakes (the Promotion) constitutes entrants (each a Participant) full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules. The Sponsor is ESPN Radio, a division of ABC Radio Network Assets, with offices at One ESPN Plaza, Bristol, CT 06010. The Administrator is Source Marketing LLC. All decisions related to, as well as all interpretation of, these Official Rules by Sponsor shall be final and binding. A Participant is providing his/her information only to Sponsor and not to Twitter.2. ELIGIBILITY: This Promotion is open to legal residents of the 50 United States, including the District of Columbia, age 18 and older at the time of entry. This Promotion consists of a one (1) day (Entry Period). The Entry Period will begin between 6:00AM ET and 10:00AM ET (Eastern Time) on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 when the Mike and Mike show is live and will end 24 hours later at the same time on the following day, Thursday, September 15, 2016. The Entry Period shall be as follows: To open the Entry Period, Sponsor (via @MikeAndMike on Twitter) will post a tweet with the entry details between 6:00AM ET and 10:00AM ET on September 14, 2016. To enter, a Participant must follow the entry details as outlined by Sponsor. Entry methods may include, but are not limited to, Tweeting with the inclusion of a required entry hashtag (#mmwednesdaysweeps) during the Entry Period on Twitter.The response must include the required hashtag and the reply address @MikeAndMike to be eligible for the drawings on Twitter; all responses, regardless of whether or not they were correct will be eligible for the drawing (each an Entry). If Participant is a first-time visitor to Twitter, Participant will be prompted to complete the on-screen registration form. A Twitter account registration is a one-time requirement. If Participant is a returning visitor, Participant will be prompted to log-in using Participants Twitter account. Limit one entry per Participant. Participants are expressly prohibited from entering from multiple Twitter accounts. Any Entry or portion thereof that is, in the Sponsors sole discretion, inconsistent with the Entry Guidelines below will not be accepted as an Entry and Sponsor may disqualify the Participant from further participation in the Promotion.4. ENTRY GUIDELINES: All submitted Entries must be in English and no longer than the character limits associated with Twitter. If the Entry is longer the character limits associated with Twitter only the first valid number of characters will be considered as the eligible Entry. Each Tweet must comply with the following guidelines: (a) contents must be owned by the Participant; (b) must have been received only after the notification Post is made (any previously submitted answers or responses will not be acknowledged or eligible); (c) must be submitted during the Entry Period to be eligible to win the prize for that Entry Period; (d) must not contain any material that would violate or infringe upon the rights of any third party, including without limitation copyrights, trademarks or rights of privacy or publicity, or that is defamatory, threatening, indecent, obscene, infringing or offensive, or that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to any applicable laws or regulations, or which requires a license from any third party; and (e) must not contain any material that Sponsor, in its sole discretion, deems inappropriate for public viewing; (f) a Tweet must contain (i) the relevant entry periods hashtag, and (ii) the reply address @MikeAndMike. In the event of a violation of these Entry Guidelines, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to take such actions, if any, as it deems appropriate with respect to the Tweet in question, including, without limitation, removing the Tweet, or disqualifying the Tweet from the Promotion.5. LIMITATIONS AND LIABILITIES: Proof of sending or submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Sponsor. Use of any automatic means to enter the Promotion is prohibited. Any attempt by any Participant to obtain more than the stated number of entries by using multiple/different email addresses, Twitter accounts, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods may be disqualified. Normal Internet access and usage charges imposed by Participants Internet Service Provider (ISP) may apply. If Participant makes or receives Tweets on Participants mobile phone, standard data usage or messaging rates will apply. In order to participate in the Promotion without receiving Tweets on Participants mobile phone, Participant must deactivate Participants mobile phone from Participants Twitter account. The Sponsor, Twitter, and their affiliates, officers, directors, employees and agencies (the Released Parties) are not responsible for technical, hardware, software or telephone malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled or delayed Tweet, or other electronic communications caused by the Participant or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Promotion by Twitter or Sponsor, or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the Entries in the Promotion or for any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participation in, accessing or downloading information in connection with the Promotion. In the event of a dispute as to any Participant, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register with Twitter will be deemed to be the Participant. Potential winners may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder of the email address/Twitter account associated with the entry. Proof of entering information via Twitter does not constitute proof of delivery or receipt of such information. The Released Parties are not responsible for the failure of any Tweet to be received by Sponsor including without limitation, whether or not on account of technical problems or congestion on the Internet or at the entry site. Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Promotion; violates the Official Rules; or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Promotion may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsors failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. If, for any reason, the Promotion is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor, including but not limited to, a change in Twitters Terms of Use, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Promotion, then the Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel the Promotion and determine the winners from among all eligible entries received prior to cancellation.6. WINNER VERIFICATION AND NOTIFICATION: One potential winner will be selected in a random drawing, on or shortly after the end of the Entry Period, or after the deadline for the Promotion period, from among all eligible Entries properly submitted and received during the Promotion Period under these Rules. A Participant who is randomly selected (a Potential Winner) is not a winner of any prize, even if notified of being a Potential Winner, unless and until the Potential Winners eligibility has been verified. Potential Winners will be notified on Twitter via direct message and possibly public mention by one of the following accounts: @mikeandmike, @espngreeny, @espngolic, or @MikesContests account from promotion administrator. Sponsor may in its sole discretion announce the names of the winners or Potential Winners on its Twitter feed or in other forms of communication, provided, however, that no Potential Winner shall be certified as a winner until the Potential Winner has executed and returned any required documents, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, such as a verification of eligibility and identity or any liability or publicity release. If a Potential Winner is under the age of eighteen (1 , he or she will be disqualified and the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner. If a Potential Winner fails to respond to any notification attempt or return verification documents within the time period specified by Sponsor, or if any attempted notification or prize delivery is returned as undeliverable, or an undeliverable or other error message is received by Sponsor from the Participants ISP -- even if sent by the ISP in error and even if the notice is actually received thereafter, the Potential Winner will be disqualified and forfeit his/her prize. Travel prize winners will not receive cash or any other form of compensation if actual travel costs are less than the stated ARV in these Official Rules. The round trip air transportation element for any travel prize begins and ends at the point of departure. In the event a traveler and/or his or her travel companions engage in behavior that (as determined by Sponsor in Sponsors sole discretion) is obnoxious or threatening, illegal or that is intended to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the trip or other applicable experience early, in whole or in part, and send such prize winner and/or his or her travel companion home with no further compensation.In the event a winner is able to participate in the trip during the dates designated by Sponsor but planned activities do not or cannot take place as scheduled or at all, for reasons including but not limited to scheduling conflicts, cancellations, postponement, or for any other reason, then the Sponsor reserves the right to award the remainder of the prize with no further obligation to the winner. Except as stated in the preceding sentence, no cash alternatives, prize substitutions or transfer of prize will be allowed, except Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize(s) of comparable value if a prize listed or any portion thereof is unavailable for any reason. Ginny Bakers (Kylie Bunbury) mysterious older brother had disappeared since the second episode, and I wont lie, I kind of thought he was dead.Sometimes this show does things that dont make sense, like dangle Ginnys brother in front of us and not follow up on the storyline. Fans have long memories (ask me how I feel about Aria not being at Callie and Arizonas wedding in the seventh season of Greys Anatomy), so it seemed odd, if not inexplicable, to know that Will existed, but was absent from the MLB All-Star Game and his sisters on-field brawl.However, the writers were kind enough to explain why Ginnys brother went MIA for the majority of the season. Will is apparently wrapped up in some shady business, and Amelia Slater (Ginnys agent, played by Ali Larter) is doing her best to manage everything away, as usual.In fact, Will did show up to his sisters second start with one hell of a shiner -- thanks to being behind on a loan payment -- and Amelia handed him a check, and told him to get going so he wouldnt be a distraction.Im sure most people are fed up with Amelias micromanaging of Ginnys life, and her interactions with Will come off as a little patronizing, which isnt helped by the fact that they are racialized. The optics of a wealthy white woman publicly shaming a black man over finances are not great for her, no matter how good her intentions might be. The admonishment she received from Evelyn Sanders (Meagan Holder), the wife of Ginnys teammate Blip, was more than just the acknowledgement that putting Wills business in the street is awkward as hell; there was a watch it tone, which probably had a double meaning. This show has proven itself to be all about identity politics, so theres no way the writers missed any part of that dynamic.Will has some sort of business plan for which he wants Ginnys backing, and Amelia is totally suspicious. And honestly, I dont really blame her. Hes Ginnys brother, and I want to believe he has her best interests in mind and is not just trying to make a buck for himself. But he is acting shady.Additionally, who knew a rain delay could provide such a dramatic background? Is this what happens in the majors? I have questions.In other news, theres trouble in paradise. This episode featured some heavy squabbling between Ginny and catcher Mike Lawson (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), which is sure to give the #Bawson fandom heart palpiitations.dddddddddddd. The two of them couldnt be chummy forever, but I would love to see some more sophisticated drama than Mike lashing out at Ginny over the Padres benching him for a game and shopping him around for a trade.However, Mikes barrage of bitterness was quickly tempered when fellow player Omar Robles (Jason Canela) confides in Mike and Blip that he thinks he has feelings for Ginny. Mike dismisses the thought with a spirited explanation of how Robles doesnt know Ginny at all, and if he did ? hed know that she hums Katy Perry songs horribly off-key, and that she loves grape soda and hates cilantro. He declares to Robles, You dont have feelings for her.But everyone, including Robles and Blip, knows that hes talking to himself.After acknowledging to himself that he has feelings for Ginny, Mike tells general manager Oscar Arguella (Mark Consuelos) that he wants to be traded to Chicago. Couple that with the promo for the next episode, which shows Ginny and Mike getting awfully close, and the #Bawson followers were sent into a frenzy.The idea of Ginny and Mike being a thing is kind of cute, but Im pissed off about it. Theres the obvious fact that Ginny is 13 years Mikes junior and the cliché of a team-based romance budding, just because a woman has joined the majors. Plus, theres the anger I feel as a queer person who played sports growing up in a heterosexist environment where crushes on teammates were not cute.Theres also something tone-deaf about the way Ginnys teammates flirt with her and the way Mike has developed feelings. I cant help but feel that if Ginny Baker was Jeff Baker and the first openly gay pitcher in MLB, the working environment wouldnt be nearly as cute.No one would want him to see them naked; no one would be flirting with him. But, because everyone is straight, a teammate romance is forbidden love. Its playful and sexy. Never mind the fact that in real life, the fear of intra-team romances has created homophobic environments on many a ball club.Ive been hoping the writers wouldnt take this storyline there because it does everyone a disservice, but it looks like they are. It bums me out. I hoped they were better than this, which reminds me: Where is that waitress when I need her? Whats her name? Cara?Bring back Cara! At least shes not Ginnys freaking teammate.
