WASHINGTON， Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- National Steak and Poultry， an Oklahoma-based beef and poultry supplier to restaurants， is recalling nearly 2 million pounds (about 900，000 kg) of its ready-to-eat chicken products， the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced Sunday.
The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service said that the recall was issued "due to adulteration because of possible undercooking， resulting in the potential survival of bacterial pathogens in the products."
Undercooked poultry can contain bacteria that could lead to gastrointestinal illness. But "there have been no confirmed reports of adverse health effects or illnesses due to consumption of any of the recalled products，" the department said.
The announcement expands an initial recall issued on Nov. 23 by the company that included 17，439 pounds (7，910 kg) of ready-to-eat chicken parts for the same reason， according to the USDA.
The total amount of products now subject to the recall is estimated to be 1，993，528 pounds (904，249 kg)， it said.
The expansion of the recall was prompted by a customer's complaint on Nov. 28 about undercooked product， it added.
The scope of this recall expansion now includes a variety of ready-to-eat chicken products that were produced on various dates from Aug. 20 through Nov. 30 this year， according to the department.
