Football Womens Ronde Barber Jersey , at its core, is a game of violence. A player tries to impose his will on an opponent, who simultaneously tries to impose his will in the other direction. It’s essentially free-range wrestling, with certain players based on pre-snap alignment necessarily in position to launch a Sumo-style attempt on each and every snap to neutralize the foe. And it requires a strong degree of motivation, desire, focus, and intensity. But, as the NFL has realized over the last decade, it also must be accomplished as safely as possible. The end result is a delicate balance, with the league in one week banning Oklahoma drills from training camp while in the next generating comments from a head coach who wants a player who literally has stepped over the line (repeatedly) to have the same “look in his eye” that led to a rash of penalties, fines, and a suspension for deliberately going beyond the rules of what players can and can’t do when pushing and shoving each other. How can the league reconcile a constant push for safety with Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians wanting new defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to have the same attitude and demeanor as the guy who, among other things, stomped on now-Bucs offensive lineman Evan Smith, pushed a shoe into the crotch of former Texans quarterback Matt Schaub, and put his foot (and full weight) on the lower leg of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, laughably claiming after the fact that the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field had left Suh’s numb Womens Ali Marpet Jersey , so he didn’t realize where he was stepping?Although Arians expressed confidence that he can control and contain an old-school Suh who carries in his mind and heart a desire and intent to inflict gratuitous pain and injury, Arians still wants to set that Suh loose on opponents, presumably hopeful that he will channel his desire to inflict pain and injury into permissible techniques and tactics.Again, it’s a delicate balance, and it may be an impossible one to strike. Coaches want players who are driven to wreak havoc, but those players also must also understand that they are allowed to wreak only legal havoc, stopping short of breaking the rules, with the possible goal of breaking bones. At a time when the league reportedly is preparing to make another run at 18 regular-season games, look for the league to keep drawing the line farther and farther away from actions and intentions that would potentially inflict injury. Before the league can ever make the case for more football, the league will have to be able to say that, over the past decade, rules changes have made the game sufficiently safe to justify the addition of two games per team per year. And that’s not a ridiculous statement to make. Watch a game from the ’70s or ’80s. The level of brutality is stunning in comparison to the modern game. The effort to make the game safer has worked. But the league currently may be bumping up against the line the resides between safe, fair football and a sport that looks like football, but actually isn’t. Where this goes over the next five years will go a long way toward determining whether football will still be football, or whether it will morph into a fundamentally different game. EDTShareTweetShareShareBucs Rookie Minicamp Roundup, Part II: Diamonds In The RoughDevin White got him an interception on the second day of camp.Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsThis is part two of our rookie minicamp updates. You can check out part one here.Friday’s portion of rookie minicamp showcased the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ newcomers in the secondary Womens Adarius Glanton Jersey , namely Jamel Dean and Sean Murphy-Bunting.The defense was good again on Saturday, but this time it was fifth overall Devin White and tryout David Kenney out of Indiana who stole the show. According to Matt Matera of petwerreport.com, White made a very athletic interception over the middle that exemplified both his athletic ability and focus. It made up for the dropped pick-six he missed out on Friday. But the story of the day, per Matera, may in fact be Kenney. The former Hoosier is in Tampa Bay on a tryout and is making the most of his opportunity. There were several instances on Saturday in which he would’ve recorded a sack if players were allowed to hit the quarterback. He’s performed so well that the Bucs have already given him an invite to Tuesday’s OTAs. If Kenney can stick around, it’d be a major career shift for a player that never really found his way in college. A 4-star recruit out of high school, he appeared in just seven games his freshman year before taking a “personal leave” from the program before the 2014 season began. Kenney transferred to Illinois State in 2015, but was dismissed after one season with the team. I couldn’t find any record of him playing elsewhere after dismissal, so I’d assume he has been out of football since 2016. Devin White is doing his thing during camp.Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY SportsAccording to Carmen Vitali of buccaneers.com,wide receiver Scotty Miller and offensive guard Zack Bailey both had a nice day on the offensive side of things. Bruce Arians commented on Miller’s route running and how he “flashed” during Friday’s camp, while seventh-round pick Terry Beckner Jr. applauded Bailey’s toughness in the trenches when they would face off against each other in the SEC.Miller originally drew comparisons to former Bucs wideout Adam Humphries when he was taken in the sixth round of the draft, but likened himself to DeSean Jackson on Saturday. Arians said that he can see the speedy wideout in a John Brown-type role, as well. Vitali also mentioned Contrelle Simpson out of Richmond and Anthony Johnson out of Buffalo as receivers that had good days alongside Miller. It’s encouraging to see players outside of the draft class making plays early on. While this is only the second day of rookie minicamp, the Bucs need able bodies and they need them quick. This follows Arians’ “diamond in the rough” ideology he referred to when he was first hired by the Bucs back in January. He’s obviously sticking to his guns in that regard and hopefully there will be a nice payoff at the end. Arians was also pleased enough with the two-day camp that he cancelled Sunday’s practices. OTAs will resume on Tuesday, May 14th. |
